PERFORMANCE OF RIMNIO BRIDGE EMBANKMENT DURING THE 1995 KOZANI-GREVENA EARTHQUAKE
This paper represents an evaluation of the performance of the Rimnio bridge embankment during the 1995 Kozani-Grevena earthquake. The embankment extensively cracked, settled and moved horizontally due to the liquefaction of its foundation. Results of the seismic response analysis of the embankment and the back-analysis of its permanent displacement are presented. This case history yields valuable information about the response of embankments, subjected to near-source ground motion.
