ACOUSTIC SURVEYS OF HARBOUR AREA SEDIMENT PROCESSES AND PROPERTIES
Developments on the ;ast ten years using a continuously variable acoustic signal between the ranges of 4 to 24 kHz (Chirp) for seismic reflections surveys have resulted in widespread use and applications. The complete history of sediment "management" involves use of the Chirp acoustics in all its phases. Initially a sediment has to be mapped to both determine its areal distribution, thicknesses and, if polluted, the degree and the nature of contamination.
