INTERNATIONAL CEMENT ANALYSIS STUDY. PART 3. QUANTITATIVE X-RAY DIFFRACTION ANALYSIS OF CEMENTS
This paper describes the results of a cooperative analysis, by x-ray diffraction techniques, of samples of 6 cements and their corresponding clinkers. Nine laboratories took part in this study. The standard deviations of the percentage of alite, belite, aluminate and ferrite present were 7.2, 5.4, 2.4 and 1.5 percent respectively for the cements and 8.9, 5.7, 2.1 and 1.7 percent for the clinkers. These standard deviations are so large that it is difficult to characterize a cement by x-ray diffraction analysis. /TRRL/
