The first chapter of this six-chapter report describes the influence of filling on the mechanical properties of hard rock joints. It is followed by a compilation of deformations and strength properties in tabular form. Finite element method calculations for large rock cavities are reported in the third chapter and finite element method assessment of their stability in the fourth chapter. The fifth and sixth parts deal with the finite element method program descriptions and manuals. /TRRL/
