VOLVO'S S80 CAR RATED TOPS FOR SIDE CRASHES
AB Volvo's 1999 and 2000-model S80 four-door was the first passenger car to receive the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's to five-star crash-test ratings for protecting both front- and rear-seat occupants in a side collision. The S80 is equipped with a standard side air bag for the driver and a standard inflatable curtain that deploys in a crash to cushion the heads of the driver and a rear-seat passenger. In recent side-crash testing, five-star ratings for both the front and rear seats went to the Nissan Motor Company's Pathfinder 4x4 four-door sport utility vehicle with side air bags for the torso and head.
