POLYMER IMPREGNATION OF MORTAR AND CONCRETE
POLYMERIMPREGNERING AV BRUK OCH BETONG
The report discusses the impregnation method with reference to physical factors, the composition and properties of the cement paste, mortar and concrete, and the requirements for monomers and polymers. A special study has been made of the impregnation procedure and its stages in the light of the properties which the impregnated material is to possess. The principle of polymerisation has been touched upon, but particular emphasis is laid on thermal-catalytic polymerisation which is the simplest and most common method. There is finally a discussion of the properties and the relation they bear to the degree of saturation of the pores in the polymer impregnated concrete, and its porosity. The properties which have been studied include physical, mechanical and rheological properties and durability. /TRRL/
