SPEED REDUCING DEVICES ON THE CARRIAGEWAY
HASTIGHETSSAENKANDE ANORDNING AR I VAEGHANAN
From the traffic environment it is difficult for the road user to obtain information which makes adequate speed adjustment possible. Two methods are shown which help the road user with the speed adjustment - rumble strips and road humps. Rumble strips are a succession of transverse strips on the road which cause noises and vibrations in the vehicle. Rumble strips are preferred at high speed levels. Road humps can be used in order to produce speed levels lower than 30 km/h or where the road users are nearing the critical area at a medium speed level. /TRRL/
