GEOTECHNICAL CHARACTERIZATION OF INDUSTRIAL SLUDGES
Industrial sludge can be used to construct reservoir dams. This paper deals with the preliminary testing program for the geotechnical characterization of a specific industrial sludge. The sludge material should be used to increase the height of existing reservoir dams. The new dams will be founded on the disposal in the reservoir. A testing embankment with a height of 8 m (4.4 mi) is being constructed. Pore water pressures and settlements in the supporting disposal as well as in the embankment itself are monitored during and after construction.
