THE IMPORTANCE OF DEALING WITH UNCERTAINTIES IN FOUNDATION ANALYSIS
This paper discusses, with the help of case studies, the results obtained with and without accounting for the uncertainties in foundation analysis. Tools that have been found easy to use to account for uncertainties and to evaluate their effect on the calculated performance are briefly mentioned. The paper looks at the reasons why the methods are not more widely used in practice and makes recommendations on when and how to use the approach.
