MAINTENANCE OF RELIABILITY OF SUPPORT OF TRANSPORT OUTCOMES IN A CRYOLITHIC ZONE
In polar areas, problems at road junctions are complicated by the presence of permafrost. The tendency of the degradation of performance during the last decade has aggravated the situation. In Norilsk, the most important industrial region of the Northern Siberia, numerous deformations of supports of road junctions and pipelines as well as destruction of road surfaces resulted from seasonal freezing-thawing of ground and solidification processes have occurred. The support of the road-bridge through the Norilskaya River has undergone complicated deformations. 15 years ago, 123 thermopoles were installed for the purpose of stabilizing the ground around the bridge supports. The deterioration of the geocryological conditions have required the reduction of the thermal effects on permafrost. The use of unlimited stocks of natural cold improves the reliability of supports of transportation infrastructure objects.
