ITS ON BOSTON'S ROADS, BRIDGES AND TUNNELS
The sprawling metropolitan Boston region has endured traffic congestion on a massive scale for years. Relief is in sight, however. The Central Artery/Tunnel project, also known as the Big Dig, is the core of a historic, multi-billion dollar construction program linking downtown Boston with interstate highways and other major arteries in the metropolitan region. This article identifies a blend of existing and cutting-edge transportation technologies that make this program one of the nation's largest showcases for ITS.
