SELECTION CRITERIA FOR STRUCTURAL STEEL: DESIGN CONSIDERATIONS
Selection and specification of structural steels to be used on building projects is done by the Engineer-of-Record. In the design of members and connections, the engineer must properly consider the material properties and capacities. In addition to typical design considerations, the engineer must be aware of demands that result from special loads, environmental conditions, and residual stresses.
