VEHICLE RECOGNITION FROM PARKING IMAGES USING STEREO METHOD
Conventional image processing methods of recognizing a vehicle are susceptible to changes in the outer environment such as a shadow of a vehicle or a roadside building, overlap of vehicles in the traffic congestion, and so on. In order to eliminate this problem, we at OMRON have developed a vehicle recognition method, based on three- dimensional (3D) measurement using a pair of cameras. We tested our new method and obtained 95% accuracy rates for the images to be used in our experiments.
