MACRO AND MICRO FREEWAY AUTOMATIC INCIDENT DETECTION (AID) METHODS BASED ON IMAGE PROCESSING

This paper discusses potential micro and macro freeway automatic incident detection (AID) methods that are based on image processing. It first gives an overview to freeway AID. This is followed by a discussion of problems that are associated with existing algorithms. Potential freeway AID methods that are abased on image processing are then discussed, including a look at some of the difficulties that occur while using image processing for freeway AID.
