ESTIMATION OF OD TRAFFIC VOLUME USING AVI SYSTEM

This paper describes a method of estimating the volume of origin- destination traffic using an automatic vehicle identification (AVI) system that provides license plate recognition. The AVI system estimates the expected value with the reliability calculated from the following parameters: license plates collated between AVIs, index of AVI recognition performance, and the number of vehicles counted by the vehicle detector connected to the AVI.
