REGION LAUNCHES SMARTRAVELER REAL-TIME TRAFFIC INFO SERVICE

This article describes the SmarTraveler real-time traffic information service available to travelers in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. The service is available in a dial-up mode or through the Internet. Transit schedules are also currently available. Future plans include detailed transit and parking information, as well as traffic information, to be available by radio, broadcast telephone cable television, pagers, in-vehicle navigation services, and at information kiosks.
