THE GROWTH OF AN INTEGRATED ITI IN THE TUCSON METROPOLITAN AREA
The Tucson area has ensured the integration of its ITI (Intelligent Transportation Initiative) components by keeping focused on achieving its fundamental goal of establishing a "seamless" transportation system for the users of the area. For the Tucson area, realizing that the public doesn't care which jurisdiction they're in when they're traveling sums up the necessity of creating a seamless transportation system. From the onset of the program, the Tucson area has applied a systems engineering approach to remain focused on the integration of its ITI components. In establishing a seamless transportation system, the Tucson area has recognized that the ITI and its integration must grow with the area and its needs from the ground up. For this to happen, the ITI must grow together as a single balanced system in order to reach the lofty goal of a truly integrated, "seamless" transportation system. In the Tucson area this has led to the balanced implementation of various ITI components being developed simultaneously, providing opportunity for integration of components during development
