SMART PATH IMPLEMENTATION OF COORDINATION PROTOCOLS FOR A FAULT TOLERANT AHS DESIGN
In this paper, the authors examine fault tolerance in an automated highway system (AHS) setting. SmartPath is used to create a simulation environment for an AHS. The authors describe how degraded mode protocols have been implemented in the SmartPath environment and how an AHS can handle and recover from various fault scenarios by having the vehicle come to a stop or exit the highway in a safe manner.
