FINAL DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION PLAN FOR EVALUATING THE EFFECTIVENESS OF FMVSS 214: SIDE DOOR STRENGTH
The report covers the final design and implementation plan for evaluating the effectiveness of FMVSS 214 (Side Door Strength). The plan for the evaluation study considers measurability criteria, alternative statistical techniques, and data availability/collectability. Effects of side door beams were most discernible only in relatively low speed, angle collisions where the corner of the striking bumper impacts near the center of a door.
