Any discussion of aviation incident and accident investigation raises fairly fundamental issues about the nature and purpose of the investigation process. One of the main aims of this paper is consideration of the practice and process of investigation in aviation sphere. The information on which this paper is based is drawn from firsthand experience of the investigation of air traffic control related incidents and accidents in the United Kingdom.
