FINDING YOUR WAY: PASSENGER INFORMATION IMPROVEMENTS AT CTA
Helping riders find theirr way would be easier if stations and facilities were similar in design and only a few routes or transfer points were involved. However, in Chicago and in many other cities where transit systems have evolved, order and consistency may not be easily achieved. Changes and new requirements, such as the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), provide added challenges. After a brief introduction to Chicago rapid transit, this paper provides an overview of several recent experiences. These suggest that graphic program managers should not hesitate in testing new methods and materials. Good passenger information helps to make riders feel confident about using transit.
