I-15 RECONSTRUCTION - UTAH'S UTOPIA
This article looks at the ongoing development of the I-15 highway project in Salt Lake City, Utah. The existing highway was built in the 1960s to serve through the 1980s, but time, traffic and weather have worsened the condition of the road and structures. The plan is to remove the old highway and replace it with a new one costing nearly $1.6 billion. Some details of the project are: (1) the complete replacement of 140 bridges; (2) new I-15/I-80/SR-201 junctions; (3) frontage road improvements; (4) railroad grade separations at three points.
