THE LOS ANGELES INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT MASTER PLAN - BUILDING THE CASE FOR LOS ANGELES' FUTURE
The LAX Master Plan is one of the most challenging aviation planning efforts in the U.S. today. It combines numerous technical, environmental and policy issues in a complex decision making process. A single environmental impact document will be released (Summer 1998) to the public, addressing both the federal and California environmental requirements. This case study is not a complete review of the master plan process but an overview of several key elements which provide a context for the importance and complexity of this study. It provides an economic context for the need to improve LAX and it outlines the Airport's future opportunity in conjunction with the other LA region airports.
