PRIVATISATION OF RAILWAYS IN BRITAIN: CHANGED DEMANDS ON TRACK MAINTENANCE MACHINERY
The privatization of railways in Britain has changed the demands on the deployments of track maintenance machinery, as competitive pressures necessitate maintenance contactors to carry out their work in ever shorter track possessions. This article describes an approach mounted by AMER Rail and other maintenance contractors which deploys an on-track machinery capable of single line operation.
