THE EDUCATION PIPELINE: A CONSTRUCT FOR ITS EDUCATION AND TRAINING

How do we coalesce and communicate the need and desire for transportation education, while specifically identifying intelligent transportation systems (ITS)? To help frame the question, a construct entitled the transportation education pipeline was developed, with emphasis on the highway system. This construct accommodates the future transportation professional but also includes all educational levels as well as other professionals. This pipeline could be a useful tool in framing the increasing scope of transportation and ITS education needs.
