AN ANALYTICAL LOOK AT LIVE AND CB SPEECH INTELLIGIBILITY IN CONTEMPORARY COMMERCIAL TRUCK CABS BASED ON THE ARTICULATION INDEX
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) currently has a having requirement for individuals seeking a commercial driver's license for interstate commerce. The existence of such a requirement implies that truck driving is aheaeing-critical job, perhaps including speech communication tasks. The Articulation Index (AI) described here can be used as a standardized analystical technique to evaluate speech intelligibility in various truck cab environments for design and comparison purposes.
