WINDSOR PROBE TEST FOR NONDESTRUCTIVE EVALUATION OF NORMAL AND HIGH-STRENGTH CONCRETE
The objective of this study was to evaluate the use of the Windsor probe test to nondestructively determine the in situ compressive strength of normal and high-strength concrete. Tests were performed on 13 mixes with strength varying between 2,240 psi (15 MPa) and 18,820 psi (130 MPa). Two types of probes were used. The probes were made of a special high-strength alloy steel and had similar dimensions. For stress relief purposes, one probe type was baked for 3.5 hr, while the other type was baked for 7 hr. The Windsor probe test was found to be successful in predicting the in situ compressive strength of normal and high-strength concrete up to 17,080 psi (120 MPa).
