WIRED FOR SOUND
SoundPrint is a technique which was originally developed in Calgary, Canada by Pure Technologies Inc to monitor tendons in the post-tensioned floors of multistorey buildings and car parks. The Transport Research Laboratory (TRL) has added this non-destructive investigative technique to monitor the condition of ageing post-tensioned concrete highway structures. SoundPrint enables engineers to identify the sound of a pre-stressing strand wire breaking. TRL is supporting a full scale trial installation on the Huntingdon Viaduct.
