DART PURCHASING CARD PROGRAM
When Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) presented its Corporate Card Program at the 1998 Bus Equipment and Maintenance/Procurement Materials Management Workshop in 1998, it radiated energy among attendees. This paper presents an overview of the program and lists the following advantages: the program is available for immediate use and no bidding is required; economies of scale can be realized by combining buying power; low to no administrative costs are associated with the program; variety of reporting mechanisms are available; potential exists for increased revenue; liability protection for card misuse included.
