REDUCING ROAD TRAFFIC IN LONDON: PROPOSED STRATEGY
This is a short report of a study commissioned to develop road traffic reduction targets for London as required by the Road Traffic Reduction Act 1997. It sets the targets and needs for reduction based on poor air quality and increasing traffic congestion and details a four step plan to introduce the necessary mechanisms to implement these targets. The report concludes that while it may be impossible to meet the targets set for 2005, considerable improvements can be made and that the 40% reduction required by 2008 should be achievable. For fuller report see IRRD E100837.
