ALT-MAT: ALTERNATIVE MATERIALS IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION
ALT-MAT is a collaborative research project partly funded by the European Commission. It involves eight research organisations across Europe and is coordinated by the Transport Research Laboratory. The aim of the project is to help bridge the gap between laboratory tests and field performance, and hence to encourage the use of alternative materials in road construction. The project focuses on unbound granular materials. The current situation with regard to the use of alternative materials in road construction in the UK is reviewed and the activities to be carried out in ALT-MAT are described. Input from interested parties is invited. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD E100818.
