SMALL SYSTEM WATER SUPPLY PARTNERSHIP
Public drinking water suppliers and wastewater treatment operators across the U.S. face unprecedented challenges in meeting increasingly stringent, federally mandated water quality regulations. Particularly hard-pressed are the tens of thousands of small municipal and private operators that typically lack the funds of the nation's larger water industry utilities. Small system operators are finding partnerships forged with engineering consultants, larger systems, and other contract operators offer a cost-effective option for acquiring the needed expertise. This article recounts the experience of the small village of Sharon, Connecticut.
