NEW STATE FUND TO PUSH TRANSIT IMPROVEMENTS
The Minnesota Department of Transportation and Metropolitan Council have proposed the creation of the Transit Mobility Fund. The fund would be created and maintained using 5% of the state's motor vehicle excise tax, beginning in 2002, and would be used to finance state capital costs for new light rail, commuter rail, dedicated busway, and related transit projects.
