Its introductory section advises on where to obtain information on equipment and services, prices, safety regulations and standards, driving licences and instruction, insurance, road tax, etc. The topics of later sections include: (1) choosing a motor vehicle; (2) steering aids and control; (3) pedals and hand controls; (4) computer-operated controls; (5) car seats; (6) communications equipment; (7) entering and leaving a vehicle; (8) equipment for moving and securing wheelchairs; (9) safety belts, harnesses, and head rests; (10) cars and vans for carrying passengers in wheelchairs; (11) independent vehicle access for a driver in a wheelchair; (12) motor homes and caravans; (13) minibuses for disabled passengers; (14) bicycles, tricycles, and powered bicycles; and (15) off-road vehicles. The introductory section includes a description of mobility centres, which provide practical advice for disabled drivers and passengers, and a map showing the location of 20 such centres in the UK and one in Ireland. It also describes some organisations for disabled people.
