THE PARTNERSHIP FOR BUILDING INNOVATION: ENHANCING THE PROCESS FOR IMPLEMENTING NEW TECHNOLOGY. THE FOUNDATION FOR A NEW APPROACH TO IMPLEMENT BUILDING INNOVATION
The Civil Engineering Research Foundation (CERF) was formed in 1989 to facilitate the introduction of innovation into the construction industry. The project described in the report focuses on laying the foundation for developing a national strategy for public/private sector partnerships in implementing technology and systems innovation in the buildings sector. The project explores the problems inherent in the current approaches to introducing building innovation, and investigates the needs and perspectives of key stakeholders. This report documents these findings and suggests a preliminary new framework for implementing innovation, centered around an enhanced evaluation process with participation from the technical, building owner, and insurance communities.
