URBAN TRANSPORTATION PLANNING METHODS IN CHINA

After a brief introduction on the importance of transportation planning for China, the report reviews the transportation planning process. It includes a definition of urban transportation planning process (UTPP) as used in China, an outline of the types of organizations involved in UTPP, and a review of urban transportation planning activities and their deficiencies. Also discussed are the tools that can be used to carry out transportation demand forecasting and the corresponding analysis, including the urban transportation planning packages and geographic information systems used.
