SESSION 4. ACCIDENT PREVENTION THROUGH ADEQUATE CONSTRUCTION OF VEHICLES
SESSION 4. PREVENTION DES ACCIDENTS PAR LA CONSTRUCTION APPROPRIEE DU VEHICULE
The author considers active safety when the car is travelling, perception and manoeuvres. Emphasis is placed on the fact that the main cause of accidents is the driver and not technical vehicle defects. During travelling, the eec guideline regarding braking is a step in the right direction but further directives concerning vehicle behaviour on all types of road and tyres should be developed. As regards perception, lighting and field of vision should be closely examined. Attention is drawn to the need for more precise and uniform accident statistics. /TRRL/
