APPLICATION OF THE INITIAL STRESS METHOD TO SOIL STRUCTURE INTERACTION
A general method is presented for the analysis of soil-structure interaction problems using the initial stress finite element approach. The soil and structure will be treated as separate bodies related only by nodal forces at the soil-structure interface. Provision is made for plastic failure of both soil and structure, shear failure at the interface, and breakaway of the structure from the soil. The significance of these features is illustrated by considering a number of examples. (Author) /TRRL/
