WEAR FROM THE NEW GENERATION OF STUDDED TYRES. SERIES 2: FRENCH NON-PROFILED TYRES
VERSCHLEISS DURCH SPIKEREIFEN DER NEUEN GENERATION. REIHE 2: FRANZOESISCHE RULLKONTURREIFEN.
The French studded tyres tested displayed only slightly varying wear values. This arises from the fact that the tyres do not possess the same stud projection. Following a calculated correction to a mean stud projection, the 6 mm stud was found to give a 25% lower wear than the 8 mm stud. However, the steel belt displayed little or no advantage over the fabric belt. In the absolute values of wear, the French and Austrian studded tyres were comparable, when the differences in stud projection were taken into account. /TRRL/
