GOING PLACES, ACCESS NEEDS OF VISUALLY IMPAIRED TRAVELLERS IN TRANSPORTATION TERMINALS: DESIGN GUIDELINE
This manual identifies the needs of visually impaired and blind travelers and makes recommendations on how best to meet these needs. The recommendations describe ways to improve terminal design and to manage construction and renovation projects so that a terminal facility is safe for and accessible to blind and visually impaired travelers. The manual offers a checklist of design principles, describes design features that are particularly important to blind and visually impaired travelers, and provides specifications for terminal elements, including entrances, lighting, ticket counters, facilities, doors, halls, signage, information systems, stairs, elevators and escalators, emergency facilities, and construction and maintenance sites.
