NEW YORK STATE'S ROADS AND BRIDGES: A REPORT ON CONDITIONS, CURRENT USE AND ABILITY TO MEET FUTURE TRAVEL NEEDS
The State of New York has a network of more than 112,000 miles (180,200 km) of roads and 17,000 bridges which provide access and mobility throughout the state. This system supports approximately 121 billion miles (176 billion km) of vehicle travel annually, as the state's 10.5 million licensed drivers and out-of-state visitors travel to work, school, churches, go shopping and visit tourist attractions. Businesses in the state also rely on this system of roads and bridges to serve their customers. This report looks at the use, condition, safety performance, funding and future needs of the roads and bridges.
