CHAPTER 27: PUBLIC TRANSPORT AND CYCLING: EXPERIENCE OF MODAL INTEGRATION IN GERMANY. FROM THE GREENING OF URBAN TRANSPORT, EDITION 2.
The Bremen transport system has been advertising its bike-bus idea using the slogan 'The family on tour would like a nature trip with bus and bike'. The aim of this chapter is to explain, using examples, the situation of bike transport in German buses and trams, and to examine other possibilities of a connection between the bike and public transport. The successful combination of these transport modes could increase the attractiveness of the public sector and speed up urban travel without using cars.
