AMBIENT FACTORS IN ROAD ACCIDENTS

It is suggested that multidisicplinary efforts be applied to highway design, and that an attempt be made to ensure international comparability of accident data, to eliminate the lack of traffic control systems, and to consider not only cars but also pedestrians and two-wheeled vehicles in highway design. The need for considering visibility angles from vehicles, biomechanical factors and the ergonomic design of fully automated vehicles in relation to safety is stressed. /TRRL/
