A NEW APPROACH TO IMPROVING ROAD SAFETY: SAFETY CHECKING OF ROAD INFRASTRUCTURE
Road safety has been improved in France during the last ten years. However, a number of studies have shown that the heterogeneous nature of the road network together with accident black spots are still the major causes of road accident risks. A safety checking system has been suggested. Studies, discussions and experiments have been carried out in order to assess the feasibility and effectiveness of such safety checking system. The paper is a presentation of the progress of this project. For the covering abstract of the conference see IRRD E201756.
