VELOCITY PROFILES OF DEVELOPING AND DEVELOPED OPEN CHANNEL FLOW. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE
A discussion of a paper with the aforementioned title by S. Kirkgoz and M. Ardiclioglu, published in this journal (Volume 123, Number 12, December 1997), is presented. The discussers reanalyze the authors' experimental data on the investigation of velocity profiles and determine that the method used by the authors to determine shear velocity can not guarantee the measuring accuracy. Furthermore, they claim that the aspect ratio has an obvious effect on the velocity profiles and that the characteristics of velocity profiles in the developing region are different from that of the developed flow. Discussion is followed by closure from the authors.
