PERFORMANCE AND MONITORING OF UNDERGROUND STRUCTURES USING STABILISING JET-GROUTING
EXECUTION ET SUIVI D'OUVRAGES SOUTERRAINS EN CAS D'UTILISATION DU 'JET-GROUTING' POUR LEUR STABILISATION
In Bonn and near Frankfurt, so-called jet-grouting screens have been used for driving tunnels through areas which are close to the surface, so as to allow tunnels to be driven through noncohesive soil. With tunnel driving cross-section areas of 65 to 165 sq m, jet-grouting cylinders with length of up to 15 m were made as a temporary measure. The temporary securing of the cavities was achieved using injected concrete. The stability of the working face was ensured by leaving a support core or by horizontal jet-grounding cylinders in the working face. Deformation measurements on the securing components, on the site surface and in the soil have shown that this method of construction is easy to master and produces very low deformations which are tolerable in any event.
