CASTOR: SIMPLIFIED DAM-BREAK WAVE MODEL. DISCUSSION AND CLOSURE
A discussion of a technical note with the aforementioned title by A. Paquier and O. Robin, published in this journal (Volume 123, Number 8, August 1997), is presented. The discusser questions the validity of several of the paper's statements regarding the accuracy of the National Weather Service simplified dam break (SMPDBK) model, the relationship between the channel valley and the reservoir volume, and the adequacy of the average velocity used to compute the travel time. Discussion is followed by closure from the first author.
