MAIN STREET REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT SPRUCES UP DOWNTOWN
This article describes how the National Main Street Program and the Florida Main Street Program worked together to revitalize Leesburg, Florida which had been decimated by urban sprawl and relocated businesses. One element of improvement -- the streetscape project -- entails sidewalk replacement and street resurfacing, strategically located street trees, brick crosswalks, historic street lighting, street finishings, and provisions for future telecommunication and electrical upgrades.
