DESIGN MANUAL FOR ROADS AND BRIDGES: VOLUME 2, SECTION2, PART 5, DESIGN CRITERIA FOR COLLISION PROTECTION BEAMS
This Standard covers the design requirements of collision beams for the superstructures of existing bridges over highways and for tunnel entrances. Collision protection beams should be designed in accordance with the relevant parts of British Standard BS 5400. A CPD is intended either to slow or stop a vehicle which is over-height for the measured headroom at a particular bridge or tunnel site.
