OPEN SESAME - THE DOORS TO SUCCESS

As the first physical contact of any vehicle with its passengers, the positive aspect and correct functioning of a door system is of great importance for any transportation network. If the customer is put off by a malfunctioning. or even unaesthetic door, then the whole expense of the construction of the vehicle, and/or system will have been wasted. The article examines some of the work that is being done to improve both the design and performance of doors. The trend at the moment is toward electrically operated doors on the grounds of modularity, ease of adjustment and maintenance, cleanliness, and the reduction of the need to pneumatic capacity in the total train operation.
